Welcome to the Airway BioCore @ UNC (ABC)—formerly known as the MLI Tissue Procurement and Cell Culture Core. While our name has changed, our mission remains the same: providing the high-fidelity biological materials essential for breakthrough research in Cystic Fibrosis, COPD, and asthma.

Our Track Record: The ABC has a proven history of high-volume production and quality assurance. Since 1982, we have processed over 8,600 human tissue specimens. Our recent output highlights our capacity: between 2020 and 2023, we generated an average of over viable primary and passage one human airway epithelial cells annually.
